DESCRIPTION:Music Tells the Story is our theme recital for students (of member teachers) of all ages\, abilities\, and instruments.  Students entering write a story about their piece in one paragraph. SUMMARY:Friends and Family Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Family and Friends Recital is a wonderful opportunity to perform ensemble and chamber music with friends and/or family members.  Many combinations are possible\, limited only by the imagination.  Instrumentalists\, vocalists\, parents performing with their children all combine to make for a very enjoyable event!  At least one performer in each ensemble must be the student of a teacher member.  In-Hand Deadline for entry is Tuesday\, January 12\, 2027. \nThe Friends and Family Form is found in the Student Activities Booklet. SUMMARY:Piano Master Class
DESCRIPTION:GCMTA is pleased to present a Piano Master Class featuring clinician Marian Hahn on Saturday\, January 16\, 2027.  The class is open to all prepared students (of member teachers) at level Late Elementary and up\, but only five students will be selected to play for Dr. Hahn.  Teachers must fill out and submit the entry form and also submit a video audition of the student’s piece.  Videos can be sent via Youtube link.  If using another transmission method\, please check with the chair that the video is accessible to her.  All materials must be received IN HAND by the chair\, Grant McMullan\, by Monday\, January 4\, 2027.  Upon selection for the class\, teachers must mail the entry fee for the participating student ($30) to Treasurer Elaine Newhall (7504 Broadcloth Way\, Columbia MD 21046). \nThe public is invited to attend this edifying event.  Auditing students will be charged only $5\, and auditing teachers only $10.  Parents accompanying students will be admitted free. \nThe Piano Master Class Application Form is found in the Student Activities Booklet\, available on this website under SAB. \nGCMTA members in good standing are eligible to enter their students in GCMTA events.  If you wish to enter your child or student into a GCMTA event\, and are not a member\, please contact our Membership Chair\, and join here.

SUMMARY:MSMTA High School Recognition Exams - Columbia Center Day 2
DESCRIPTION:Prerecorded videos for 2021: For 38 years\, MSMTA has sponsored the High School Piano Exams in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Education.  The exam is for piano students in grades 9-12 in public\, non-public\, or home taught schools who are residents of Maryland and are studying piano privately on a regular basis during the school year.  Passing students are awarded a certificate of achievement at their school.  \nDeadline for both Credit and Recognition (!) is Saturday\, April 24th\, 2021.  Uploads of videos are due May 21. \nPlease see the Maryland State Music Teachers Association website for more details.  Also\, below are the basic description and entry forms from the current MSMTA Student Activities Booklet.  Please scroll to the bottom of the pdf and use the buttons that appear under your cursor to page through the pdfs or download to your computer. \n
